What are the easy ways to get amazing, frizz-free hair?
Frizzy hair is a common complaint among women. Instead of smooth, luscious locks, frizz tends to make your hair appear messy and dry. To help you tame your frizz, we’ve put together a list of 6 easy tips for your try out:
1. Switch to Satin Pillowcases
Cotton pillowcases can damage your cuticles, cause friction, and remove the moisture from your hair. By switching to satin cases, you’ll prevent this damage and may find that your hairstyles actually stay put over night!
2. Buy Alcohol-Free Products
When purchasing hair products, steer clear of those that have alcohol in them. Alcohol will dry out your hair quickly, which leads to frizz. Look for products that provide “extreme moisture” or “hydration.”
3. Use a Deep Conditioner or Hair Mask
Deep conditioning treatments and hair masks will help bring your locks back to life. This is especially important if you blow dry, straighten, or curl your hair often!
4. Pair Leave-In Conditioner with a Ceramic Blow Dryer
Before blow drying your hair, make sure to use a leave-in conditioner to protect your strands. Also, instead of using a regular blow dryer, opt for a ceramic one. Ceramic blow dryers are easier on your hair and also use negative ions to smooth frizz.
5. Try a Keratin Treatment
If you don’t mind spending a little bit of money, keratin treatments are great for getting rid of frizz!
6. Don’t Shampoo Every Day
You’ve probably heard this a million times, but shampooing every day is actually bad for your hair! If your hair gets greasy quicker than most, try to only wash your hair 4-5 times a week. If you have normal hair, shoot for 2-3 times a week. And, if you have thick, coarse hair, you may be able to get away with only washing your hair 1-2 times a week! Shampooing too frequently will strip your hair of its natural oils and cause frizz. When washing, be sure to use sulfate-free and alcohol-free shampoo. Lastly, use a microfiber towel on your hair when getting out of the shower. It will absorb water from your hair without causing damage.
