Dogs’ heightened senses have been used by militaries since the Roman and Greek eras.
The first sentry dogs were trained at Lackland in 1958.
The “Dog School,” procures and trains dogs to protect service members in various combat situations.
The dogs must exhibit focused, aggressive behaviour, with a heightened sense of smell and a strong desire to work for reward before they are assigned to military services worldwide.
The pups of the special breed are sent to foster homes at the age of 6-8 weeks where they learn socialization skills in a home environment.
When they are 7-9 months, they are taken into observation for consideration as a military working dog.
Only puppies that exhibit a strong drive are adaptable to different environments and those who respond to reward-for-work motivation move into the pre-training program.
It is believed that not all dogs have the natural characteristics to be fearless and brave.

Dogs

You know that whenever we ask about dogs the first thing that comes to our mind is "man's best friend". Who can compare to the happiness that little fur balls give us when we arrive home from the hustle and hurry world? Their innocence in the world is worth the love and care we give to them. Dogs are either pampered or strayed. You have the choice to take care of dogs with special breed or you can adopt any dog and give it a family. While most people are overwhelmed with their love for dogs, there are also people who heartlessly hunt these poor creatures. Unfortunately, this cannot easily be stopped as this inhumane act springs to the heart of men.
