Does religion actually affect attitude?

I have seen people act and behave in good and bad manners, one thing i hear from people is they acted based on their religious believes so i want to ask if religion actually affect attitude.

    it does, usually religious people consider themselvs higher than others and all kind of bad mannerisms manifest in them as a result
