It’s not too hard to choose a cake for an office party, but there are things you can keep in mind if you want to avoid frustrations in the lead-up to the event. Here are a few pieces of advice you should keep in mind.

1 - Look into the bakery’s reputation
Make sure you are ordering the cake from a reputable seller that has a history of reliability. If your office has held big events before, it’s a good idea to ask others if there was a cake, and which bakery was used. Assuming they did a good job, of course.

A little research into the bakery up front can prevent a world of problems down the line.

2 - Order a big cake than you think you’ll need
If the budget allows for it, it’s generally a good idea to order a bigger cake than you think you’ll need. Especially if the event is open to people outside the office. After all, unexpected guests may arrive, and some people may end up eating more than expected. And having the cake vanish in a matter of minutes can spoil the mood of an event.

Don’t worry about leftovers from a big cake. If you prepare containers ahead of time, you’ll find plenty of guests and staff members who’ll be eager to take some cake home so it won’t go to waste.

3 - Choose conservative flavors
Chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla are my go-to when shopping for event cakes. Yes, these flavors are conservative, but they are also almost universally appealing, which is a necessity for big event cakes.

They are also relatively hard to get wrong, which is useful when you are ordering from a bakery you are not familiar with. If you order from a cake delivery service that has been in business for over a decade like this one, then it is safe to risk a more exotic cake.
