Why is an ACH return occurs in a high-risk merchant account?
In a high risk merchant account, transactions processed via the ACH system may return for many reasons:
• Insufficient funds: the customer does not have enough funds in their bank account to complete the purchase.
• Closed account: if a previously active bank account has been shut down.
An ACH transaction that succeeds before may be returned later for the given reasons:
• Unauthorized transaction: if the customer claims they did not permit you to debit funds
• Previous authorization revoked: the customer who authorized you to debit funds has revoked the authorization.
