Q. Chip boxes for turbo engines: how does it work?
1 Answer
The idea itself looks doubtful: to implant under the hood of some electronics, which must be “befriended” the main ECU. It is clear that this “friendship” is not provided by the manufacturer, and the principle of interaction between the two blocks is unclear at first glance. It looks like some kind of chip tuning imitation. However, such blocks are produced including such famous firms as Brabus. Chip-box ecutools cannot install another working program into standard block, but it can “fool its head”. In fact, it is engaged in forgery: it sends actually erroneous data from various sensors to the control unit. In this way it is possible to make the ECU increase the boost pressure and change the proportions of the air-fuel mixture. Cables from the chip box are connected in the breaks of the standard channels. There is no need to physically cut the wires - a special connector-adapter helps.
