Q. What can I anticipate from a hearing aid fitting appointment?
1 Answer
The hearing aid will be attached to the custom-fitted ear piece, and the audiologist will ensure that it fits neatly behind your ear once it is connected. After examining your ear, the hearing aid(s) will then be configured for your specific hearing loss using Real Ear Measurements (REMs).
The REMs test, which takes into consideration the size and shape of your ears, is a quick way to match your hearing loss to the hearing aids. During the exam, all you need to do is face a speaker while remaining still and silent. The audiologist will insert a tiny tube into your ear canal while placing a head set over your ears. After that, the audiologist will adjust the hearing aid(s) while playing a variety of sounds through the speaker. The thin tube and head set are removed and the data is saved onto the hearing aid(s) if the audiologist is satisfied that the hearing aid is configured correctly.
The audiologist will then go over the operation of the hearing aid, what to anticipate from it, and how to adjust to the new sound. Additionally, the audiologist will inquire about the circumstances in which you have trouble hearing so they can customize the hearing aid to work best for you in those particular circumstances.
The audiologist will then demonstrate how to insert and remove the hearing aid from your ear and have you practice these steps. Please make sure they attend the appointment with you if a caregiver or family member will be doing this for you or assisting you with the hearing aid.
What follows is what?
You will be given a review appointment at your hearing aid fitting session. This consultation, which usually takes place 4 to 6 weeks following your hearing aid fitting session, could last up to 30 minutes.
The review appointment is to assess your use of the hearing aid(s) and to talk about any issues you may have encountered. Please return any hearing aids you’ve decided not to use at your review visit.answered by delmershurlocke
