Ask yourself whether the various characters you write really belong to your book. You can hire a book writer. Is it possible to include the role just because I think it needs to be completed in the current trend? Do you include him/her to preach or prove this issue? Are you caught in literary metaphors like “magic black” or “mythical gay best friend”? Do you feel guilty for being a “white saviour”? In other words, does your character really belong to your story? Do they have their own backstory, goals, and abilities, or do they exist just to help or enhance your protagonist? Do your research—books, well-known websites, articles, first-person accounts, documentaries, etc. Take a survey trip. Take time to learn the local language, terrain and customs. Study the art, music, and drama of the culture you write about. Clarify the preferred terminology used in the culture. For example, it is better to say “disable” rather than “disable”. This is called human-centred language, and it is important to the community.
