Baking soda is a good pre-treat for stains that have a particularly unpleasant smell. When dried baking soda sits in contact with moisture and laundry odors, it absorbs them. A baking soda paste is a great option to use to pretreat even the toughest stains. Making a baking soda paste requires only water and baking soda. To make it, mix a two to one ratio of baking soda and warm water in a small bowl. You will only need 1/2 cup of water for 1 cup of baking soda. Sweat stains and odors on clothing can be removed by applying baking soda paste. Apply the paste before laundering clothes. Depending on the stain, you may need to let the paste sit for one to two hours. After brushing the baking soda off, wash as usual.
