Is free or cheap energy the ultimate commodity we should seek?
humans need food, food needs fresh water, desalinating water needs energy.
cars need metals, metals need melting and shaping, melting needs energy.
glass needs sand, sand needs cleaning and melting, melting needs energy.
meat need animals, animal need food, food needs plants, plants need water and water needs energy.
every problem is solved with enough energy thrown at it, is free or cheap energy the ultimate goal we should pursue?

A single source of cheap electricity is not omnipresent.
The energy can be restored as the geographical areas changed .Like....Solar energy is very vital to store in many countries. International Solar Alliance is there.
Somewhere Wind energy is abundant. CHINA, AUSTRALIA.
Tidal Energy.
Geo-thermal energy in the counties that line on Equator.& the types and pattern goes on.
There is no universal type of energy that can be roll-on in the entire world.
Conserve and Consume energy as much as you can.

In industrial and post industrial societies, this must be. Reliance to machines and technology is evident in daily activities such as communication and transportation. Food, shelter, and clothing are a must but these will come in handy if people are equipped with a reasonable paying jobs. Jobs that are generally driven by the coordination of humans and machines. If the capital needed for energy is lesser, the bigger the money we get to use for other commodities needed.
