This can refer to cases where you need to stay awake and stay alert ie. Studying for important exams, Driving late at night, Going to work but not having slept long enough etc etc

The best way to stay awake and in general to encrease the hours awake is to start doing yoga - for example Surya Namaskar- it will open up your channels and let the pranic energy going through your system - as a result you will need less sleep and will be energetic longer. if you do it regularly, you will need no more than 5 hours night sleep each day.
