    Not always.
    Friendship is not necessarily about keeping your friend above yourself.
    It is more about standing by your friend’s choice and sharing their troubles and joy if the person you consider to be your friend thinks the same way about you than he/she will do the same for you.

    If u dont need to make him/her understand your problems in elaborately manner, you should make him/her as a best friend.

    I would do as i mention above.

    Understanding is the vital element of true friendship.
