why do people destry art, harwork and masterpieces of ancient people in the name of religion?

some people are jumping into the debate of flat earth, seriously? some are only following their holy books because theres written earth is flat in it, so if they will not debate then their books will be proved wrongs. To save the religion they are ignoring reality.
